L.A. Global Music Festival Workshops

Join us for a celebration of music cultures from around the world at the inaugural Los Angeles Global Music Festival!

Co-produced by the Resonance Collective and Numinous Music, immerse yourself in performances and workshops featuring a rich tapestry of global music traditions, all converging in the heart of Los Angeles. We are thrilled to offer three interactive workshops with the artists, where you can take an in-depth dive into their music and culture. These workshops are for all ages and no previous music experience is required:

3pm: The festival workshops begin with an interactive experience that teaches Yup’ik drum-dance songs and choreography presented by Pamyua members Phillip Blanchett, Stephen “Qacung” Blanchett and Aassanaaq “Ossie” Kairaiuak. This workshop explains ancestral, environmental and spiritual motivations common in the Central Yup’ik (Indigenous Alaskan Natives) tradition from Southwestern Alaska.

4:15pm: Eres Medicina band members Enrique Marin, Rosalina Rosales, Nicki Wong and Tia-Marie Ravi Jaspreet Brown, will share sound, music, and oral traditional teachings corresponding and aligned to the immediate world around us. The teachings shared will be both Western and Eastern founded in Mexikah, Aztec – Toltec philosophy and universal ancestral wisdom.

5:30pm: A traditional Raga singing workshop led by Kamini Natarajan. Ragas are a melodic framework for composition and improvisation in Indian Classical Music. Participants will learn the basics of Indian Classical Music as well as learn a number of Ragas.

Parking is available at the venue. $10 in advance, $15 at the gate.
