About Alexander Kugler

Alexander merges prayer and song to bring joyful praise to the people. His music evokes humanity’s primal longing for union with the Divine by arousing the audience into ecstatic movement and dance.

Calling upon his 15 years of training as an opera singer and cantorial soloist, Alexander skillfully elevates ancient Hebrew text with rich and simple melodies expressed through the power and beauty of his voice.   He beckons the listener into juicy praying with the body, ancient text, rhythm and melody.

After leaving his career as an opera singer in 2012, Alexander devoted himself to the healing arts.  He has been an initiated song and medicine carrier with the Peruvian Pachakuti Mesa lineage for over a decade.  He has worked intimately with several indigenous medicine and wisdom carriers who have shared their ways of praying with him and blessed him to carry on their teachings.

Having traveled the road of several North and South American indigenous wisdom traditions, Alexander was able to return with fresh eyes to the healing ways of his Hebrew ancestry.  Calling upon this refreshed sight he approached the Hebrew texts with newfound curiosity and a capacity to weave the ancient words with new and arousing melodies.  Hebrew Mystic is the culmination of a decade’s worth of praying, playing, and collaborating.  Please join Alexander and friends for a night of inspiration, praise and arousing intimacy with the Holy One.
